Trees were missed on the survey and site plan, which dramatically slowed our permit process. We got lots of excuses that frankly were not valid ("couldn't access neighbors property" - hilariously the city arborist said he leaned over the fence and measured them - etc, etc). Many other small details missed and lack of attention to detail in the permit expediting process. Culminating when the expeditor asked me after almost 4 months of this backyard patio/pool project "what is this project anyway and why do you need to access the back yard?". How does one not even know what the project is for? That was infuriating. Folks just didn't pay attention. Nor did they bother to pick up the phone and ask the City of Atlanta what really was needed. I finally did so myself, and when I passed this information back to our expeditor, I usually was told why I was wrong and "lectured". Our permit dragged out 6 months when it should have been 2-3. There were faults by almost every party involved - architect, contractor, surveyor, expeditor, but end of the day, the expediting was not done well. They essentially didn't know what the City required, and kept arguing why it was needed. Again, when I called myself, it was perfectly clear what was needed and the City was quite helpful. I don't agree with all the City required, but I didn't fight it like our expeditor did. I don't think Survey Systems should expedite in the City as it's clear the company doesn't understand City requirements, both on the survey/site plan and expediting process.
